#WCW – it’s the hashtag heard ’round the social world. It stands for strength, for courage, for equal rights. It represents fierce women everywhere. Its meaning: Women Crush Wednesday. Its belief: Women rock!
Women Crush the Vote
Look around the office, the streets, your home, and your life, at all the women who make the world more successful, safer, and easier. Better. Today, we see people, not gender, so it’s almost impossible to fathom life a century ago – a time when all the intelligent, powerful women you respect today would have had few rights and even fewer leadership roles. Would not have been able to vote, or to own property separate from her husband, or to attend the country’s best universities.
In fact, it wasn’t until 1920 – less than 100 years ago – that your great-grandmothers and great-aunts were given the right to vote. Let that sink in for a minute.
Two years later – 93 years ago today, on November 21, 1922 – mighty woman Rebecca Latimer Felton became the first woman to serve in the United States Senate. She was 87 at the time, and had spent much of her life tirelessly campaigning for Progressive Era reforms, including women’s rights. And she paved the way for our future.
The Women of Hawk Take Up the Mantle
Fast-forward nine decades, and women have come a long way. At Hawk Security, we recognize your achievements. We understand your concerns. We fight for your rights. And we hope we’d have made Rebecca proud.
Hawk WCW is our social voice of support and solidarity. It’s a small token of gratitude, but a heartfelt one nonetheless. Because every Wednesday, we feature women-owned businesses that are part of Hawk’s base of successful businesses that we are proud to protect. We highlight the women of Hawk – strong leaders who have worked hard to build successful businesses. Texas entrepreneurs who we are proud to call our clients.
Every week, Hawk WCW gives you the chance to promote your business. It gives us the chance to shout your name from the rooftops. And it gives us all a platform to talk about the great strides women have made in business – and the things that are still left to be done.
Hawk: By Your Side
At Hawk Security, we also recognize that there is still much room for improvement. Women may have equal rights by law, but our de facto status is far from equal. Women still fight for respect, for the same rights and courtesies afforded their male counterparts. Women in the workplace – an uphill battle that’s still being fought.
